In 1895, Ernst Sachs and Karl Fichtel founded the “Schweinfurter Präcisions-Kugellagerwerke Fichtel & Sachs”. Before the First World War, F&S was already regarded as a leading company for ball bearings and bicycle hubs. In the 1930s, the aim was to produce clutches, shock absorbers and small engines.
