Porous valve stem seals often allow too much engine oil to enter the combustion chambers via the valves. This results in carbon deposits on the valve head, in the combustion chambers and on the exhaust ducts.
Only selected materials designed for the highest loads are used in the manufacturing process. A long service life is therefore "pre-programmed".
