The valve stem seal is attached to the valve stem above the valve plate and below the spring and ensures an even film of lubrication. If it is defective, engine oil enters the combustion chamber via the valves.
Only selected materials designed for the highest loads are used in the manufacturing process. A long service life is therefore "pre-programmed".
