In contrast to fuel injection systems, the carburetor draws the required amount of fuel from the float chamber. In order to generate the necessary vacuum, the intake manifold from the air intake duct via the mixing chamber to the engine connection is usually formed into a narrowing duct, a venturi.
The PHVA and PHVB carburetors are the most common models in the 50cc class. Almost every Piaggio engine is equipped with them. With the classic design and a wide range of equipment options, such as various throttle cable and choke variants, these models are extremely variable.

Of course, the carburetor can also be used in other models. The air intake, the engine connection and the connection for the throttle cable and choke may have to be adapted. Carburetors for 2 and 4-stroke engines should not be mixed. It is also important to check whether the carburetor is prepared for mixed or separate lubrication and whether any vacuum connections are required to control a fuel tap or an oil pump.
