Spark plugs are a precision component in the engine, but are also typical wear parts. Therefore mechanics recommend to replace them regularly, even if they are not yet broken. Only by changing spark plugs can perfect engine performance be guaranteed.
Depending on the manufacturer and engine, they last between 30,000 and 60,000 kilometres until they need to be replaced. Decisive factors for spark plug replacement are not only age, but also mileage and load. If spark plugs are not replaced in time, misfiring, starting problems, reduced engine performance and increased fuel consumption can result. Spark plugs with electrodes that look burnt and charred should be replaced. In this case the ignition spark can no longer jump over properly and the engine will therefore not function optimally.
