In the variator drivetrain, the counter-pressure spring ensures that the V-belt does not slip and also influences the speed at which the variator changes the transmission ratio, i.e. “upshifts”.
If the performance of the vehicle has been increased, a stronger pressure spring must therefore always be installed to prevent the belt from slipping due to the higher tractive force. The shifting characteristics are changed in a similar way to the installation of lighter variator weights and can be further tuned with these.
